'The Ball' makes it onto the Bafta Longlist

The long list is the best 15 shorts selected out of the hundreds of British Shorts considered each year. The Ball made it into the final 15, but unfortunately not into the final 3 selected for nomination. We're still super proud!

'The Ball' Wins the Golden Plaque for short film

At the 17th International Children's Film Festival of India, in Hyderabad our short 'The Ball' was awarded the Golden Plaque in a live televised award ceremony. The festival screened over 150 films and children from all over India attended.

'The Ball' wins Best Short Film!

The Ball has been selected as 'best short film' at the 2011 11mm Shortkicks Film Festival in Berlin, this accompanies the 'Special Jury Prize' that was awarded at the LA Ladyfilmmakers festival back in 2010.

'Allah's Gift' in production

After a 2 month shoot in the Sharqia sands region of Oman we are half way through production of our National Geographic Doc.  To be completed summer 2011, we'll be shooting the final section of the film in March 2011.

ReflectFilms shown at awards ceremony at the Baltic

Meerkat Films' produced the three ReflectFilms for Port of Tyne, they were shown last night at the high profile ceremony at the Baltic, Gateshead.  The films are 'Rift' directed by Alex Kinsey, 'Tunnel' by Carol Lynn and 'Tyne God' by Steven Gaythorpe and all can be seen on our Watch page or the reflect-tyne website.

Meerkat's 'The Homing Instinct' is to feature as part of the Sage's Words and Music Festival, where it will be screened in conjunction with a new musical work that was inspired by the film called 'Homing In'.

Meerkat complete production of their drama 'Because I Like you'

26 Jun 2009 Meerkat's first venture into drama, 'Because I Like you' is a 10min film funded by Northern Film and Media and the UK Film Council.  The film was shot on the Red One camera and stars Daniel Frost and Sophie Wu.

To co-inside with their 40th anniversary, the world renowned Amber Films have joined forces with Meerkat Films to create a Web TV station called SideTV.net. Alongside Amber's own films will be work from other independent filmmakers from around the country.  The service will be free for all and content will change weekly. Meerkat Films short listed for 4Talent Award 2008

Magnus Dennison and Katja Roberts have been shortlisted for the Long Documentary Category of the 4Talent Awards for 2008.  The decision was made on the back of Meerkat Films' documentary 'The Homing Instinct'.  The final result will be announced end of October 2008.
